The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games is hosting the Queen’s Baton Relay – a journey that sees the Queen’s Baton visit all 72 nations and territories of the Commonwealth in the lead up to the Games.
The Sports Trust are delighted that Folkestone, Kent, will welcome the Queen’s Baton Relay on 7th July 2022.
Birmingham 2022 is hosting the 16th official Queen’s Baton Relay – a journey which brings together and celebrates communities across the Commonwealth during the build up to the Games. In England, the Queen’s Baton Relay will provide the opportunity for communities to experience the excitement for Birmingham 2022, as the 11 days of showstopping sport nears ever closer.
The Queen’s Baton Relay is set to travel the length and breadth of England for a total of 29 days, before culminating at the Opening Ceremony for Birmingham 2022 on 28 July 2022. On Thursday 7tth July the baton arrives in Folkestone, our community will have the amazing opportunity to experience the buzz of the Queen’s Baton Relay and the excitement for the upcoming Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Our community will have the amazing opportunity to experience the buzz of the Queen’s Baton Relay and the excitement for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. We are one of hundreds of communities across the country that will receive a visit from the Queen’s Baton Relay this summer.
The Queen’s Baton Relay will showcase untold stories from specially-nominated Batonbearers who have transformed lives in their community, be it through sport, education, the arts, culture or charity.
Folkestone communities are encouraged to get involved in the celebrations and further details of specific locations, types of activity and timings will be released this summer.
The Queen’s Baton Relay will culminate in the host city of Birmingham, where it will take a central role in the Opening Ceremony on 28 July.
